Many posts will discuss unpublished California Court of Appeal decisions. Practitioners should be aware that unpublished decisions are not citable unless relevant to the doctrines of law of the case, res judicata, or collateral estoppel, or unless relevant to criminal and disciplinary proceedings under certain limited circumstances. See Cal. Rules of Court, rule 8.1115(a)-(b), especially rule 8.1115(a) [unpublished decision "must not be cited or relied on by a court or a party in any other action"].
