PAMELA TAHIM THAKUR is the Founder and Managing Attorney of Thakur Law Firm, APC. She has been selected as a Super Lawyers® “Rising Star” every year since 2016 and a Super Lawyer for litigation from 2020-2023. She is also a top-rated 10.0 lawyer on Avvo and is a certified Lawyer of Distinction.


Background and Education


Pamela graduated with a J.D. and LLM in Taxation from the University of San Diego, School of Law in 2005 and received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Minor in Spanish at UCLA. She is multi-lingual in Spanish, Hindi, and Punjabi.


​​​Before starting her own law firm, Pamela worked as a senior associate at a well-known Southern California based law firm for over nine years. She was co-chair of the firm’s healthcare practice and she second-chaired the firm’s largest jury trial victory of over $13 million in a misappropriation of trade secrets case.

Pamela has represented numerous individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. She serves as outside general counsel for several companies and non-profit organizations, including:

​​​Additionally, Pamela has extensive experience as a litigator and trial attorney in both jury and bench trials in state and federal court, including in class actions and appeals.


Some of her successes as a litigator include:

 

  • Obtaining a $2.05 million judgment in a complex and highly contentious post-judgment divorce dispute that involved business real estate assets

  • Winning a $2.5 million judgment in 2022 on behalf of the buyer of a medical device company that prevailed on proving fraud, resulting in contract rescission and damages

  • Obtaining a judgment in 2022 in a highly publicized celebrity case involving a social media influencer for breach of contract, which was recently affirmed on appeal in 2023.

In defending class actions, she:

 

  • Previously served as class counsel in a major wage and hour class action settlement

  • Was granted summary judgment against an employer in a high-stakes employment discrimination matter

  • Was able to reach settlements on behalf of injured former UCLA football players

  • Had the opportunity to advocate for athlete protection before the California State Assembly in 2023


Pamela is an excellent negotiator and has settled numerous matters before litigation and at all stages through appeal. She was also legal counsel in the first-ever binding federal jury trial arbitration in California.


Pamela frequently represents parties in complex corporate transactions and sales of businesses and has handled many large-scale transactions worth tens of millions of dollars. She knows how to carefully draft contracts to be more favorable to her clients, how to structure agreements to reduce potential liabilities and tax obligations, and how to ensure that transactions do not run afoul of the law.


Involvements


​​​​Pamela is active in social and charitable causes outside of her law practice. She:

 

  • Serves on the Board of Directors for the Community Health Initiative of Orange County, an organization whose goal is to connect all children, families, and other adults to affordable and high-quality healthcare and social services

  • Was appointed to the Federal Hass Avocado Commission from 2016-2017

  • Was appointed to the City of Fullerton’s Citizen Infrastructure Review Committee from 2017-2019

  • Has served as Treasurer of the Women’s Transitional Living Center

  • Formerly served as President and Vice-President of the South Asian Bar Association of Southern California and of the Public Interest Foundation

  • Is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Orange County Bar Association, South Asian Bar Association of Southern California, and the Fullerton Chamber of Commerce

  • Is the former Chair of the Orange County Bar Association’s Health Care Section.


Pamela is admitted to practice before all California state courts, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the U.S. Tax Court.
